What to Expect From FPW

Future Progressive Weekly is a student-run forum dedicated to putting progressive politics back on the front foot. In an increasingly tumultuous age where politics based on mutual respect, healthy debate, and decency is under increasing challenge, FPW strives to provide a space where Britain’s youth can find their voice and restore these core democratic values.

In combining rigorous election forecasting with thought-provoking editorial writing, Future Progressive aims to return agency to progressive politics in Britain and contribute to building a movement capable of winning modern political debate. Ultimately, democracy is a contest of ideas. FPW seeks to develop a progressive case that can win these crucial arguments, move beyond the standpoint's current reactive stupor, and inspire Britain's youth to cherish and defend our fragile political freedoms, values, and institutions.

In the face of extremist challenges, and at a time when polarisation can so easily fuel the politics of hatred, FPW seeks to define and strengthen a progressive argument suited to the unique pressures of contemporary British politics. Progressive intellectual paralysis too often drives well-meaning progressives towards reactive politics—a losing formula. It is time to forge a new progressive path for Britain, and FPW aims to play its part in that endeavour.
